At the United Nations, Pakistan did what in the vote on the Iran sanctions panel in September 2026?

Explanation: Pakistan abstained in the United Nations vote on the Iran sanctions panel, with Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad stating that diplomacy and dialogue remain the guiding principle for resolving outstanding issues concerning Iran's nuclear programme. The abstention reflects Islamabad's balancing act between Gulf partners and its neighbour Iran. For CSS International Relations, abstention is an important instrument of multilateral diplomacy, signalling reservation without outright opposition, and is frequently used by middle powers managing competing alignments.
