New research using satellite data from the 1970s found that Greenland and Antarctica lost a combined how much ice between 1979 and 2023?

Explanation: New research based on satellite data dating back to the 1970s documented major polar ice losses, finding that Greenland and Antarctica together lost a combined 11.3 trillion tons of ice between 1979 and 2023, drawing on data from 27 separate satellite missions. The findings underline the accelerating contribution of the two great polar ice sheets to global sea level rise, a trend scientists say has intensified significantly in recent decades due to warming ocean and atmospheric temperatures.
